IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS

Hestia Features

Waterproof Technology

Our fabric technology ensures that any water landing on the outer jacket won’t pass through the fabric. This is achieved using a clever membrane layer that’s laminated to the fabric, the membrane features teeny tiny pores that prevent water molecules from passing through.

How is this tested you ask? Well, we use the Hydrostatic Head Test. Measured in millimetres, this test determines how much water pressure a fabric can withstand before it starts to leak. The higher the rating, the more waterproof the jacket. To test this, a small piece of fabric is put under a column of water. We increase the amount of water in the column until the point that water begins to soak through. For example, a rating of 8,000mm means 8 metres worth of water was placed on top of that fabric without it leaking.

Fully Fleece Lined

Fleece works by trapping air within its fibres, keeping you insulated and warm even in chilly conditions. Perfect as a mid-layer or a lining, its soft and plush texture offers exceptional comfort, providing a cozy feel against the skin. At Rainbird we only use high-quality, anti-pill fleece, this means it won’t shed, won’t pill and is super velvety on your skin.

How does this work? Fleece is achieved by taking a knitted fabric and brushing the outer surfaces, creating tiny pockets which have the ability to trap warm air and insulate the wearer. Keeping you warm and comfortable throughout the day.

Fully Seam Sealed

We seam seal every single puncture hole that has been created by the stitching process. If it isn’t seam sealed or only partial sealed, then water can easily sneak in. When water gets through, that means you’ve got a cold and uncomfortable day ahead.

When a garment is made it needs to be sewed together. Every seam that’s stitched will puncture minuscule holes into the fabric and membrane. To avoid an uncomfortable outing in wet weather, we apply a heat-sealing tape over all the seams. This process makes sure no water gets through those holes created by the stitching. We fully seam seal all our products … so not just one or two seams. We mean every single seam you see on that garment!
